POSITION SUMMARY:

MasTec Canada is currently recruiting for an Electrical Quality Control Inspector with an anticipated start date in April, 2025, to join its Industrial Division in support of building pump stations near Lac la Biche, ABThis is a six (6) month camp based role, on a rotational schedule with 15 days on, 6 days off.


The Electrical Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting finished products, products being processed, incoming materials, parts, assemblies, and the corresponding documentation for evidencing conformance to company, customer, and government requirements.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform and document inspections and testing for an electrical and instrumentation construction to assure compliance with contract documents, codes, standards, regulations, clients’ specifications, and applicable MasTec Canada Quality Manuals
  • Create or revise the ‘Inspection & Test Plan(s)’ for the project and obtain client approval as applicable
  • Complete ‘Weekly Quality’ Reports for onsite Supervision and Quality Lead on the state of compliance of the project and status of quality assurance and control activities
  • Build turnover packages and build system turnover walkdown packages
  • Lead system turnover walks, document punches and confirm completion of system
  • Create RFIs and NCRs as required
  • Complete red lines in a timely manner
  • Build walkdown packages for inspections
  • Train staff and subcontractors on quality requirements
  • Review codes requirements and ensure compliance through the implementation of the Mastec Canada Quality Management system
  • Inspect and document the receiving condition of materials and equipment for deficiencies
  • Inspect and document the site storage conditions to confirm compliance with requirements
  • Report and follow-up on non-conforming work and conditions
  • Ensure work conforms to project quality plans and specifications.
  • Actively interface with other onsite trades on regular basis
  • Act as a role model for, and behave in ways that are aligned with, MasTec’s Core values of Teamwork, Excellence, Respect, Duty, Integrity and Protect, while encouraging other to do so as well
  • Other duties as required


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certification in Red Seal Journeyman Electrician
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Previous experience with heat trace inspection is required
  • Experience inspecting MV termination and VLF testing is an asset


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for promoting and living out MasTec Canada’s 6 Core Values
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid Safety Tickets (H2S, First Aid, CSO)
  • Strong Microsoft Office and Bluebeam skills
  • Experience with Navisworks and various document control management systems is an asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract (5 years) would be an asset
  • Ability to prepare, organize, and maintain inspection data, reports and systems
  • Ambitious, pro-active, high-energy, positive attitude and a team player
