POSITION SUMMARY:
MasTec Purnell Canada is currently accepting resumes for an Industrial Field Painter to join its Coatings team to support turnaround projects in Northern Alberta and British Columbia for duration between two (2) to six (6) months.
An Industrial Field Painter will conduct abrasive blasting and application of coatings to piping, structural steel, vessels and tanks (internal/external).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepping materials for sandblasting or coating, including removing previous paint surfaces
- Masking of materials and maintaining equipment required for the job
- Safely and properly storing and disposing of chemical waste
- Using instruments to ensure specifications and quality are met
- Completion of Quality Control documents
- Set up, operate, and maintain dehumidification, heating, and ventilation equipment
- Other duties as required
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum three years of previous experience with industrial painting
- Facility and turnaround experience is required
- Previous experience in the use and maintenance of paint spray systems including conventional, airless, and plural
- Familiar with spraying and sandblasting equipment
- Turnaround experience is considered an asset
- NACE Certificate is considered an asset
- Standard first aid certification
- OSSA Confined Space is considered an asset
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for promoting and living out MasTec Purnell Canada’s 6 Core Values
- Strong knowledge of various types of industrial linings for tanks and vessels is an asset
- Ability to identify and report hazards
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
- Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals
- In depth knowledge of procedures, equipment, regulations, and guidelines
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required
