POSITION SUMMARY:
MasTec Purnell’s Coatings team is currently accepting resumes for an Industrial Field Sandblaster for field based projects near Grande Prairie.
Preference will be given to candidates LOCAL to Grande Prairie and surrounding areas.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare materials for sandblasting or coating, including removing previous paint surfaces
- Abrade surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasive-blasting equipment
- Shovel or pour abrasives, such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper
- Mask specified areas of object to protect from abrading action
- Operate and maintain sandblasting and coating equipment to job specifications, substrate surface preparation, and abrasive blasting
- Other duties as required
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school education preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience with industrial sandblasting
- NACE Certificate is considered an asset
- Experience with oilfield services is required
- Knowledge of general pipeline construction both composite & steel would be an asset
- H2S Alive

- Standard first aid certificationKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for promoting and living out MasTec Canada’s 6 Core Values
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of heavy equipment
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required
- Familiar with abrasive blasting and coatings processes
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required
- Ambitious, pro-active, high-energy, positive attitude and a team player
- Ability to identify and report hazards
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
- Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules
