POSITION SUMMARY:

MasTec Purnell Canada is currently accepting resumes for a Heavy Duty Mechanic from Grande Prairie and surrounding area.


Preference will be given to candidates LOCAL to Grande Prairie and surrounding areas.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform maintenance and preventative maintenance on all equipment troubleshooting and/or determine if repairs will be done in the field, MasTec yard, dealership or other method
  • Conduct onsite field repairs/troubleshooting
  • Communicate internally the need to request parts
  • Manage and maintain mechanic service truck and tools
  • Document all work performed and complete work orders
  • Other duties as required


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Journeyman Off-road Certification is required
  • First Aid
  • H2S Alive
  • John Deere, CAT, Komatsu experience is an asset
  • Previous pipeline experience is an asset


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for promoting and living out MasTec Canada’s 6 Core Values
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of heavy equipment
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and current clean drivers abstract (5 years) is required
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be clean shaven
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ambitious, high-energy with positive attitude
  • Ability to identify and report hazards
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules
