Senior SQL Database Developer (Contract)

Location:

Ohio (remote, with occasional onsite visits in Independence area 3–4 times per year)

Contract Details & Environment

• 15-month contract with high likelihood of extension
• Must reside in Ohio (Remote position with occasional onsite collaboration)
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must have equipment to connect securely via VPN

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex SQL Server databases, tables, views, stored procedures, and triggers
• Optimize queries, indexes, and execution plans to improve performance across reporting and data pipelines
• Develop ETL workflows using SSIS and other tools to extract, transform, and load data into reporting systems
• Design and support Power BI and SSRS reports to provide actionable business insights
• Support data integration between warehouses and third-party systems
• Collaborate with DBAs and infrastructure teams on database standards, backup, recovery, and security practices
• Work with application developers to ensure database design aligns with performance and scalability goals

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of experience in SQL Server development (2016/2019/2022 preferred)
• Advanced T-SQL skills with strong experience in performance tuning and optimization
• Proven experience with SSIS and ETL pipelines
• Proficiency in SSRS and Power BI reporting
• Strong understanding of relational data modeling and normalization
• Experience using version control tools (Azure DevOps/TFS or Git)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with distributed teams
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
