Diagnostic Radiologist
Accurate imaging interpretation changes treatment decisions the same day. This role exists to deliver timely, defensible diagnoses that help referring clinicians act with confidence and help patients avoid delay, unnecessary procedures, and missed findings. Success is measured in report quality, turnaround, and the clinical decisions your reads enable.
Performance Objectives
- Interpret diagnostic imaging across assigned modalities and produce clear, actionable reports that meet agreed turnaround standards.
- Prioritize urgent and critical studies so life-threatening findings are communicated to the care team without delay.
- Reduce diagnostic ambiguity by recommending the right next study, protocol, or consultation when imaging is inconclusive.
- Maintain peer-review and discrepancy rates within departmental targets through consistent, evidence-based interpretation.
- Collaborate with technologists to improve image quality, protocol selection, and repeat-scan rates.
- Contribute to quality, safety, and accreditation work by documenting findings, participating in case review, and closing identified gaps.
Environment & Resources
You will practice within a physician-led imaging service, supported by experienced technologists, reading-room workstations, PACS, voice recognition, and established critical-result pathways. Case mix, schedule, and subspecialty coverage are defined up front. You report to the imaging medical director and work closely with referring clinicians.
Essential Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O., completion of an accredited diagnostic radiology residency, and board certification or board eligibility.
- Active or obtainable state medical license and current DEA registration as required for the practice setting.
- Demonstrated ability to independently interpret the modalities this role covers and to meet published turnaround expectations.
- Proven skill communicating critical results clearly and documenting those communications.
- Working proficiency with PACS, voice recognition, and standard radiology reporting workflows.
Role Selling Points
- Work is judged on diagnostic impact and reliability, not volume for its own sake.
- Defined coverage and support so urgent reads do not depend on informal heroics.
- Direct access to referring clinicians and technologists who act on your recommendations.
- A practice that treats report clarity, peer review, and patient safety as core performance, not paperwork.
