What you'll do as Director of Information Technology
You’ll be the strategic IT advisor (vCIO) for some of our most important clients. These businesses rely on us to guide their technology decisions from cybersecurity and infrastructure planning to budgeting and vendor selection. You won’t be buried in internal infrastructure you’ll be out front, leading quarterly reviews, creating technology roadmaps, and helping small business owners solve real problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a vCIO / fractional CIO for 15–20 managed services clients (mostly under $20M revenue)
- Lead IT strategy, roadmap planning, and budgeting for each client
- Host quarterly business reviews (QBRs) and build strong relationships with business owners and stakeholders
- Guide clients on cloud adoption, Microsoft 365, cybersecurity best practices, and technology upgrades
- Collaborate with internal MSP support teams to execute IT projects and daily support
- Identify opportunities to reduce risk, improve uptime, and align IT spend with business goals
What we're looking for in a Director of Information Technology
- 10+ years of IT experience, including leadership or consulting roles within a Managed Service Provider (MSP)
- Strong communication and client management skills—comfortable working directly with owners of SMBs
- Broad Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, cloud platforms, networking, backup, and cybersecurity
- Experience building helping clients make cost-effective tech decisions
- Ability to juggle multiple clients, priorities, and timelines in a fast-paced MSP setting
Nice to Have:
- Experience with ConnectWise, IT Glue, or similar tools
- Familiarity with light compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.)
- Background in technology consulting, technical account management, or project management
