Internal Medicine Physician Assistant

Patients in internal medicine need a clinician who can see the whole picture—acute illness, chronic disease, and the life in between—and move care forward the same day. In this role you own a panel, close gaps before they become crises, and make every visit count for the patient and the team. You will practice at the top of your license, with physicians who expect partnership, not task work.

Performance Objectives

  • Manage a full internal medicine panel so that chronic conditions stay controlled and preventable admissions decline.
  • Complete same-day evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment plans for acute complaints, escalating only when the clinical picture requires it.
  • Close care gaps—screenings, vaccinations, medication reconciliation, and follow-up—so quality measures improve quarter over quarter.
  • Coordinate specialty referrals and hospital transitions so patients leave with a clear plan and return on schedule.
  • Document encounters accurately and on time so coding, continuity, and peer review reflect the care delivered.
  • Counsel patients on lifestyle, adherence, and risk so shared decisions stick between visits.
  • Contribute to team huddles and protocol updates that shorten wait times without sacrificing thoroughness.

Environment & Resources

You will practice in an outpatient internal medicine setting alongside physicians, nurses, and care coordinators, with a defined panel, established protocols, and on-site or rapid physician collaboration for complex cases. EHR, point-of-care tools, and clinical support staff are in place so your time goes to decisions, not paperwork. You report to the medical director or supervising physician and help shape clinic flow as volume grows.

Essential Qualifications

  • Current PA license and NCCPA certification, with DEA registration or eligibility where required.
  • Proven outpatient internal medicine or primary care experience managing diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, COPD, and multimorbidity.
  • Skill in independent assessment, differential diagnosis, and evidence-based prescribing within a collaborative agreement.
  • Consistent, timely documentation that supports quality reporting and clean billing.
  • Clear communication with patients who have low health literacy, multiple medications, or complex social needs.
  • Comfort using an EHR to track panels, close gaps, and hand off care without loss of detail.

Why This Role

  • Real panel ownership and clinical autonomy, not a narrow procedure list.
  • A collaborative physician model that backs your judgment on hard cases.
  • Visible impact on chronic-disease control and avoidable hospital use.
  • A stable clinic infrastructure so you can focus on medicine, not building systems from scratch.

If you want to practice internal medicine as a true partner—measured by outcomes, not hours logged—apply with your license status, recent panel or clinic experience, and the results you are proudest of.
