Rheumatologist

Patients with complex inflammatory and autoimmune disease need a physician who can turn uncertain symptoms into a clear plan and measurable improvement. In this role, you own the full arc of rheumatologic care—diagnosis, treatment, and long-term disease control—so people regain function, stay out of crisis, and stay in their lives. Your judgment will set the standard for how inflammatory disease is managed across the practice.

Performance Objectives

  • Establish accurate diagnoses for new and complex referrals, including undifferentiated inflammatory disease, within a defined workup window.
  • Build and adjust evidence-based treatment plans that reduce disease activity, steroid exposure, and preventable flares.
  • Manage a longitudinal panel so the majority of established patients meet agreed disease-activity and function targets.
  • Coordinate infusions, biologics, and specialty pharmacy access so indicated therapy starts without avoidable delay.
  • Partner with primary care, orthopedics, and infusion teams so shared patients have one coherent plan.
  • Document decisions clearly enough that coverage clinicians can continue care safely.
  • Contribute to clinic pathways that shorten time from referral to first disease-modifying plan.

Environment & Resources

You will practice within a physician-led rheumatology service supported by nursing, medical assistants, and prior-authorization staff. On-site or affiliated infusion capacity, EMR order sets, and specialty-pharmacy coordination are in place. You report to the medical director, with protected time for complex visits and a defined new-patient target rather than an open-ended panel.

Essential Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. and board certification or active eligibility in Rheumatology.
  • Unrestricted state medical license, or eligibility to obtain one before start.
  • Demonstrated independent management of inflammatory arthritis, connective-tissue disease, and vasculitis.
  • Fluency with biologic, targeted synthetic, and conventional DMARD selection, monitoring, and safety.
  • Comfort leading shared decisions with patients who have chronic, high-stakes disease.
  • DEA registration and willingness to participate in call consistent with group standards.

Role Selling Points

  • A panel built for depth, not volume-only throughput.
  • Nursing and authorization support so clinical time stays clinical.
  • Real influence on referral pathways and infusion access.
  • Colleagues who treat complex autoimmune disease as a team sport.
  • A stable practice setting with room to shape how care is delivered.

Call to Action

If you want your next role judged by patient outcomes, not just clinic slots filled, apply with a CV and a short note on the kind of rheumatology practice you intend to build.
