We are seeking a skilled and proactive Virtual Legal Assistant to support our attorneys and help streamline client processes.
Job Summary
The Virtual Legal Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to our attorneys, primarily focusing on estate planning matters. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and has a foundational understanding of estate planning documents and probate processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and format estate planning documents (wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives) under attorney guidance
- Assist with probate administration, including preparing filings, notices, and correspondence (if candidate has experience)
- Perform legal research related to estate planning and probate issues
- Manage and organize client files and case documents electronically
- Handle client intake and communications, including scheduling meetings and following up on documentation
- Coordinate with clients, banks, and other third parties for document collection and execution
- Maintain deadlines and assist with calendaring important estate and probate dates
- Support the firm in other administrative and operational tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Legal Assistant supporting law firm in the U.S.
- Knowledge of U.S. estate planning law is required; probate experience is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with legal software, MS Office, Google Workspace, and virtual collaboration tools
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
- High level of discretion and professionalism with confidential client information
Compensation & Schedule
- Hourly rate: $8 per hour (negotiable based on experience and skills)
- Will adhere to the Eastern Time Zone
