The Candidate

We are seeking a highly motivated Removal Defense Attorney with 3–5 years of experience in immigration law, including detained matters. This role involves managing existing cases independently, meeting with clients, and collaborating with paralegals and administrative staff to prepare pleadings, briefs, and legal strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage removal defense cases, including detained matters
• Meet with clients and provide counsel
• Collaborate with paralegals and staff to prepare filings, briefs, and legal strategy

Required Qualifications

• J.D. from a U.S. accredited law school
• Admission to any state bar or D.C.
• 3–5 years of experience in removal defense, with detained matters preferred
• Valid U.S. driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed or eligible to practice in Maryland or Virginia
• Fluency in Spanish (oral and written)

Legal Skills

• Strong legal research and writing
• Effective oral advocacy and courtroom presence
• Cultural humility and trauma-informed client engagement
• Ability to manage own casework with minimal supervision
