Senior Auditor – Nonprofit Focus (Remote) EXTERNAL Audits

Location: Remote (U.S. Based)

Schedule: Full-Time

Salary 80k-100k

Overview

We’re hiring a Senior Auditor with a strong background in nonprofit auditing to join a mission-driven team supporting organizations that make a real impact. What You’ll Be Auditing

You will work directly with nonprofit clients including:

• Private foundations
• Charitable organizations / 501(c)(3) entities
• Universities and higher education institutions
• Associations and membership organizations
• Community-based nonprofits and grant-funded entities

Key Responsibilities

• Lead audit engagements from planning through completion for nonprofit clients
• Supervise and mentor staff auditors; review workpapers and provide coaching
• Perform risk assessments and design audit procedures aligned with nonprofit standards
• Prepare and review financial statements and related disclosures
• Ensure compliance with applicable nonprofit reporting requirements (including grant and donor restrictions)
• Communicate audit progress and findings to clients clearly and professionally
• Partner with managers/partners to improve audit efficiency and quality

Required Qualifications (Nonprofit Experience Required)

• 3+ years of public accounting audit experience with a CPA Firm.
• Nonprofit audit experience is REQUIRED (must have hands-on experience auditing nonprofit entities)
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting and reporting (restricted/unrestricted net assets, contributions, grants, etc.)
• Experience leading portions of audits and reviewing staff work
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CPA-eligible strongly preferred

Experience with:

• Uniform Guidance / Single Audit
• Grant compliance and fund accounting
• Higher education audits
