Remote NFP Tax Manager | 100% Not-For-Profit Firm | Partner Track | Up to $200k+
Location: 100% Remote (United States)
Compensation: $150,000–$200,000+ base (commensurate with experience)
Requirements: 8–10+ years NFP tax experience at a public accounting firm | CPA or EA required
We are a 60-person CPA firm built exclusively around not-for-profit organizations. Not a generalist firm with an NFP practice. Not a firm where nonprofit clients are lower priority than commercial work. Everything we do — every client, every engagement, every conversation — is NFP.
If you have spent years as the NFP specialist at a traditional firm where nobody else understands excise taxes, lobbying limitations, or UBIT — you already know what this feels like. You will be surrounded by people who chose this sector intentionally. That changes everything about how the work gets done.
We are hiring a Tax Manager to lead and grow our tax practice — with a clear, fast path to partnership for the right person.
Why This Role Stands Out
-
NFP Is Everything Here — Not an Afterthought — 501(c)(3)s, (c)(4)s, (c)(6)s, private foundations, trade associations, and charitable organizations. The full spectrum of nonprofit tax work, done at a sophisticated level, every day
-
Clear Partner Track — 2 to 3 Years — We are growing rapidly through organic client acquisition and need more partners to support that growth. We promote based on performance, not arbitrary timelines. The path is real and the timeline is aggressive by design
-
Real Chance to Run the Tax Department — This is not a seat at the table. This is an opportunity to build and lead — with a strong chance of becoming head of tax as the firm grows
-
Expert Environment — You will work alongside NFP specialists, not generalists. The technical conversations here are different because everyone in the room understands the sector
-
100% Remote — Genuine Flexibility — Fully remote with flexible work arrangements built around the work, not face time
-
Organic Growth Creating Real Opportunity — Every advancement opportunity here has been created by client growth — not turnover, not restructuring
What You Will Do
- Lead complex tax planning and compliance for a diverse NFP client base — private foundations, trade associations, and charitable organizations
- Oversee preparation and review of Form 990, 990-PF, and related filings
- Provide strategic advisory on charitable giving, UBIT, excise taxes, lobbying limitations, and compliance matters
- Develop and mentor tax staff and seniors
- Collaborate with audit and advisory teams on comprehensive client service
- Build and maintain strong client relationships with executive directors and boards
What We Are Looking For
- Active CPA or EA required
- 8–10+ years of NFP tax experience at a public accounting firm
- Deep expertise in private foundation taxation, UBIT, excise taxes, and Form 990 compliance
- Experience managing client relationships and leading tax teams
- Partnership-ready mindset with strong business development instincts
- Self-directed and comfortable working autonomously in a remote environment
What We Offer
- Base salary $150,000–$200,000+, commensurate with experience
- Clear 2 to 3 year partner track — performance based, not tenure based
- 100% remote with flexible work arrangements
- Collaborative, supportive team culture built entirely around NFP
- A firm where your expertise is not just valued — it is the entire point
