Tax Director - High-Net-Worth / Family Office Services (Wealth Management Firm)

Location: Fully Remote

Compensation: $180k–$230k + Bonus + Full Benefits

We’re a national, highly respected wealth management firm with a long-standing reputation for guiding high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families through complex financial, tax, and planning matters. With a growing presence across multiple U.S. locations, we provide an integrated suite of services that includes tax planning and compliance, wealth and estate planning, family office support, risk management, and specialized advisory solutions tailored to sophisticated client needs.

Our firm has continued to grow significantly over the last several years by adding new talent across the organization and expanding the number of families and entities we support. As demand for our family office and planning services increases, we’re looking to bring on a Tax Director who can help lead the strategic tax function and serve as a key resource for clients with complex, multi-layered financial situations.

This is a fully remote role with competitive compensation (typically $180k–$230k+ DOE), full medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible PTO, parental leave, 401(k), life insurance, and professional development support. Our culture emphasizes partnership, flexibility, and long-term career growth - offering remote work options and more balanced busy seasons compared to traditional public accounting, without sacrificing the complexity or quality of client work.

Role Overview

As a Tax Director, you’ll oversee the tax needs of select HNW/UHNW families, ensuring they receive accurate, proactive, and comprehensive guidance. You’ll collaborate closely with internal tax, accounting, planning, and advisory teams while maintaining high standards of service and responsiveness.

We are also considering Senior Tax Managers who are ready for the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and review complex Individual, Trust, Gift, Partnership, and Corporate tax returns (including multi-state).
  • Direct quarterly and year-end projections, planning strategies, and estimated tax analyses.
  • Serve as a primary advisor to assigned families, coordinating tax matters with accounting, wealth planning, and investment teams.
  • Review financial reports to ensure they accurately reflect client activity.
  • Participate in client meetings to present updates, planning opportunities, and recommendations.
  • Mentor and support tax and family office team members.
  • Contribute to process improvements and firmwide initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of tax experience within public accounting or family office services.
  • Extensive experience working with high-net-worth individuals and multi-entity structures.
  • Strong review-level expertise across Individual, Trust, Gift, Partnership, and Corporate returns.
  • CPA required; MST or CFP preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, project management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage sophisticated client relationships with limited oversight.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary typically $180k–$230k+ DOE
  • Discretionary bonus
  • Full medical, dental & vision insurance
  • Flexible PTO + holidays
  • 401(k), life insurance, parental leave, education support
  • Fully remote flexibility
  • Balanced, collaborative culture with long-term growth opportunities
