Remote Tax Manager | Independent CPA Firm | Up to $150k + Bonus
Location: 100% Remote (United States)
Compensation: Up to $150,000 base + annual bonus
Requirements: 5+ years public accounting tax experience | CPA required | S-Corp & partnership experience required
We are an independently owned, full-service CPA and advisory firm with decades of history — consistently recognized as a regional leader in accounting and advisory services, and in active growth mode with significant expansion over the past two years. We transitioned to a fully remote model years ago — not because of a pandemic, but because it worked — and the vast majority of our team has operated remotely ever since.
We are hiring a Tax Manager to join a growing tax practice. If you have spent years doing sophisticated small business tax work and have experience serving medical professionals and practice owners — this role was built for you.
Why This Role Stands Out
-
Fully Remote — Permanently — We made the decision to go remote years ago and have not looked back. This is not a hybrid situation, not a temporary policy, and not something leadership is reconsidering. Remote is how we operate
-
Medical Practice Focus — A meaningful portion of this role is dedicated to medical practice clientele — physicians, group practices, and healthcare-related small businesses. If this is your niche, you will be doing work that plays to your strengths every day
-
Client-Facing Advisory Role — This is not a purely technical review seat. You will be the face of the relationship — advising clients directly, communicating complex tax matters clearly, and serving as a trusted partner to business owners
-
Decades in Business — Still Independent — No private equity. No merger pressure. A firm that has been doing this the right way for a long time and has no plans to change
-
Annual Company Retreat — The firm brings the entire team together once a year at a different destination — all expenses paid. Remote does not mean disconnected here
-
Family-Oriented Culture — Flexible schedules, generous PTO, and a firm that genuinely understands that people have lives outside of work
-
Recognized for Excellence — Consistently recognized as a regional leader and for client satisfaction — multiple years running
What You Will Do
- Manage and review tax returns for small to middle market businesses — S-corps, partnerships, and closely held entities — with a primary focus on medical practice clients
- Serve as the primary client contact — advising physicians and practice owners on tax planning, entity structure, and compliance matters
- Identify proactive tax planning opportunities and communicate them clearly to clients
- Mentor and develop senior associates and staff
- Collaborate with partners on client strategy and business development
- Stay current on tax law changes affecting small businesses and healthcare professionals
What We Are Looking For
- Active CPA required
- 5+ years of public accounting tax experience
-
S-corp and partnership experience required — this is the core technical foundation of the role
- Strong client-facing advisory skills — you are comfortable owning the relationship, not just reviewing the work
- Self-directed and comfortable working fully remote
What We Offer
- Base salary up to $150,000, commensurate with experience
- Annual performance bonus
- Generous PTO and flexible scheduling
- 401(k) with employer match
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Annual company-wide retreat — all expenses paid
- Referral bonuses for new clients and new team members
- Professional development and CPE support
- A firm that has been fully remote for years — and built to stay that way
