Job Title: Audit Manager

Job Location: Remote (Anywhere in the US)

Job Salary: up to $170k base + bonus (10-15%)

Requirements: 5-6 years of audit experience at a public accounting firm, CPA license required, and at least 1 year of experience as a Manager

We are a nationally recognized, Top 100 accounting and advisory firm headquartered in the Chicago area, and we are looking for an experienced Audit Manager to join our team — fully remote, open to candidates anywhere in the United States.

Founded over 50+ years ago, we have built a reputation on quality, accountability, and long-standing client relationships that span generations. We serve a diverse and sophisticated client base including privately held businesses, global public companies, entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals, and not-for-profit organizations. Our practice spans financial reporting, assurance, tax, advisory, and risk and controls — giving our professionals broad exposure and real depth of work.

This is not a firm chasing growth through acquisitions. Our expansion has been organic and deliberate — over 18% growth in the past two years — and our culture has remained intact because of it. With an average Partner tenure of nearly 20 years and a median employee tenure that reflects genuine loyalty, the people here tend to stay. That tells you something.

About the Role

As an Audit Manager, you will lead engagements from planning through issuance, manage and develop audit staff, and serve as a trusted point of contact for clients across a variety of industries. You will work closely with Partners who are hands-on and technically engaged — not removed from the work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple audit engagements simultaneously, ensuring quality, timeliness, and compliance with applicable standards
  • Supervise, coach, and review the work of audit seniors and staff
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the day-to-day point of contact
  • Lead engagement planning and risk assessment processes
  • Identify issues, communicate findings clearly, and present practical solutions
  • Contribute to staff development and participate in firm-wide initiatives

Qualifications

  • CPA license required
  • Minimum 5–6 years of public accounting audit experience, with at least 1–2 years at the Manager level
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP
  • Experience managing multiple engagements and client relationships simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Public accounting firm background required

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary up to $170,000, commensurate with experience, plus a performance bonus of 10–15%. Full benefits package including health, dental, and vision. The firm hosts pre- and post-busy season gatherings — remote employees are flown in to connect with the broader team — as well as an annual firm-wide trip to premier destinations (most recently, the Caribbean). This is a firm that invests in its people.

Recognition

Consistently ranked among the top accounting and advisory firms in the United States by Accounting Today, including recognition as a national leader in tax.
