Remote: 100% Remote
Compensation: $150K–$200K base, depending on experience + performance bonus
About the Opportunity
We're working with a growing, fully virtual boutique CPA firm that is looking to add an experienced Senior Tax Manager / Tax Director to take on a key leadership role across tax review, client advisory, team development, and continued practice growth.
This is a great opportunity for someone who still enjoys being close to the technical side of tax but is ready to operate at a higher level — owning key client relationships, advising business owners and HNW individuals, developing the team, and working directly with leadership to build and scale the tax practice.
The firm works primarily with closely held businesses, S-Corporations, Partnerships, and High-Net-Worth individuals, with a strong emphasis on year-round tax planning and advisory rather than simply pushing returns through during busy season.
The environment is 100% virtual and cloud-based. This is a smaller, entrepreneurial CPA firm where decisions are made quickly, experienced professionals have a voice, and strong leaders can make a meaningful impact without the layers and bureaucracy of a larger organization.
Depending on experience and level, the work can include:
- High-Net-Worth individuals and business owners
- Closely held and owner-operated businesses
- S-Corporations and Partnerships
- Corporate tax matters
- Complex individual tax planning
- Year-round tax planning and advisory
- Business-owner tax strategy
- Complex tax return review
- Direct client advisory and relationship management
The Senior Tax Manager / Tax Director will serve as a senior technical and client-facing resource, with significant responsibility for reviewing complex returns, advising clients, developing tax professionals, and helping strengthen the firm's overall tax delivery and processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform final review of complex S-Corporation, Partnership, Corporate, and HNW individual tax returns
- Work directly with business owners and HNW clients on proactive, year-round tax planning and advisory
- Serve as a senior technical resource on complex tax matters
- Own and continue developing key client relationships
- Identify tax planning opportunities beyond the immediate compliance engagement
- Mentor and develop Tax Seniors, Managers, and other members of the tax team
- Help strengthen tax review, workflow, and overall delivery processes
- Collaborate directly with firm leadership on team development and process improvement
- Help create greater consistency, efficiency, and scalability as the practice continues to grow
- Take on increasing leadership responsibilities within the tax practice
Requirements
- 8+ years of Public Accounting tax experience
- Strong experience with closely held businesses, pass-through entities, and HNW individuals
- Significant tax review, planning, and advisory experience
- Current or previous Manager, Senior Manager, or Director-level responsibility
- Strong client relationship and communication skills
- Experience mentoring and developing tax professionals
- Ability to work independently and lead effectively in a fully remote environment
- UltraTax experience strongly preferred
- Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in helping shape and grow a tax practice
