Audit Manager – Nonprofit
Fully Remote | Eastern Time Zone
A growing, boutique public accounting firm with a dedicated nonprofit practice is hiring an experienced Audit Manager to support continued expansion. The firm is based in the Northeast and works with nonprofit organizations across the U.S. This role is fully remote for candidates located in the EST time zone.
This is an opportunity for a nonprofit audit professional who wants meaningful client ownership, strong leadership exposure, and a long-term growth path within a focused, people-driven firm.
The Role
The Audit Manager will oversee nonprofit audit engagements from planning through completion, manage teams, and serve as a primary client contact.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing financial statement audits for nonprofit organizations
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP and applicable nonprofit audit standards
- Reviewing audit workpapers, reports, and financial statements
- Leading, mentoring, and developing audit staff and seniors
- Managing engagement timelines, budgets, and deliverables
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Staying current on nonprofit accounting and auditing requirements
- Supporting firm initiatives related to growth, training, and client development
Qualifications
- CPA required
- 5+ years of public accounting experience with significant nonprofit audit exposure
- Experience leading engagements and supervising teams
- Strong technical knowledge of nonprofit accounting and audit requirements
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote environment
- Prior exposure to proposals, client development, or similar initiatives is a plus
