Principal Network Architect / Director of Engineering – Managed Services (REMOTE)

A national, fast-growing MSP / VAR is hiring a highly technical networking leader to help modernize its Network Operations Center (NOC) and Managed Services organization.

This is a true player/coach opportunity for someone who built their career as a hands-on Network Engineer and still enjoys architecture, complex troubleshooting, customer escalations, and mentoring engineers.

You'll work closely with executive leadership while remaining actively involved in technical design, major customer incidents, automation initiatives, and the continued evolution of a modern enterprise managed services platform.

This role is ideal for someone currently working as a:

• Principal Network Engineer
• Lead Network Engineer
• Principal or Lead Network Architect
• Network Engineering Manager
• Team Lead
• Practice Lead

The ideal candidate has spent much of their career within an MSP, VAR, Systems Integrator, or Managed Services organization supporting multiple enterprise customers.

Technical credibility is more important than title. You should still enjoy getting involved in complex networking challenges and be someone engineers naturally turn to when they need help solving difficult problems.

What You'll Do

• Serve as the senior technical escalation point for complex networking issues.
• Lead architecture and design discussions across enterprise customer environments.
• Participate in major customer bridge calls and critical production incidents.
• Mentor Network Engineers and help elevate engineering standards.
• Drive automation, operational improvements, and NOC modernization initiatives.
• Partner with leadership on the technical direction of the Managed Services practice.

Preferred Background

• Strong enterprise networking experience (Cisco Routing & Switching, Nexus, Catalyst, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-WAN, EVPN/VXLAN).
• Experience with Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco Security, VPNs, and Zero Trust.
• Python, Ansible, APIs, Infrastructure Automation, or AI-assisted operations.
• Cisco ACI, VMware, and enterprise data center technologies.
• CCNP preferred; CCIE or CCIE-level technical expertise is highly desirable.
• Previous leadership or mentoring experience.
• MSP / Managed Services / VAR experience supporting multiple enterprise customers.
