Salary: Up to $180,000 Base + Strong Annual Bonus

Position Overview

We are seeking a CPA-certified Indirect Tax Manager to join our growing State & Local Tax practice, with a focus on sales and use tax, transaction tax, and other indirect tax matters. This role is ideal for a technically strong leader who enjoys working directly with clients on complex multistate indirect tax issues while mentoring a team and contributing to practice growth.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients across industries including Real Estate, Construction, Technology, Retail, Manufacturing, and Professional Services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee a portfolio of multistate clients, delivering high-quality indirect tax compliance and advisory services
  • Lead sales and use tax compliance, review, and consulting engagements
  • Conduct nexus studies and advise on economic nexus and marketplace facilitator rules
  • Manage voluntary disclosure agreements (VDAs) and audit defense engagements
  • Oversee taxability analyses and transaction-level advisory projects
  • Identify indirect tax planning opportunities and process improvements
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments across multiple jurisdictions
  • Review sales and use tax returns and exemption certificate processes
  • Represent clients in state audits and administrative proceedings
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff and senior-level professionals
  • Collaborate with partners to support client growth and expand indirect tax services


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Active CPA license Preffered
  • 5–8+ years of experience in indirect tax (sales & use tax focus required)
  • Strong technical knowledge of multistate sales and use tax regulations and nexus principles
  • Experience with tax compliance, advisory, and controversy matters
  • Familiarity with indirect tax software platforms (Vertex, Avalara, CCH, OneSource, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills with ability to clearly explain complex tax matters
  • Proven leadership experience managing projects and mentoring teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fully remote, collaborative environment
