Lead, Elevate & Scale an Established Tax Practice Serving Closely Held Businesses


A well-established advisory / CPA firm is hiring a Tax Director to take leadership of an existing and growing tax practice focused on business owners, entrepreneurs, and their related entity structures.


This role is designed for a senior tax leader who enjoys operating at both the strategic and execution level—someone who can step into a functioning practice, strengthen what’s already working, improve systems and workflows, and help scale both the team and the client experience.


You’ll work directly with owners and executives across closely held operating companies, partnerships, and multi-entity structures while guiding the direction of the tax department alongside firm leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the tax department and guide its continued growth.
  • Oversee planning and compliance for business owners, S Corps, partnerships, and multi-entity structures.
  • Review complex individual, partnership, and trust returns tied to operating and investment entities.
  • Collaborate with advisory leadership on proactive tax strategies tied to compensation, ownership, cash flow, and succession.
  • Develop, mentor, and manage a growing tax team.
  • Optimize workflows, technology, and review processes to support scalable growth.


Ideal Background

  • 10+ years in public accounting or boutique tax/advisory firms.
  • Deep experience with pass-through entities and owner-level planning.
  • Prior leadership experience as a Director, Senior Manager, or Practice Lead.
  • Strong client presence with the ability to lead planning conversations with business owners.
  • Process-minded with experience improving workflows and team efficiency.
  • CPA or EA required.
