A respected financial advisory firm is preparing to expand its offerings by launching a dedicated tax division—and is seeking a proven Tax Director to lead the charge.
This is a rare ground-floor leadership opportunity to build something meaningful with full support, national visibility, and a hand-selected team. The firm already has a high-quality client base of approximately 200 HNW individuals and families, with an immediate need for integrated tax strategy and execution.
The right candidate will be both a player and a coach—someone equally comfortable reviewing complex returns, leading planning discussions, and building systems and processes to scale a high-functioning tax department from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities
- Stand up the firm’s tax department, including systems, processes, and people
- Oversee planning and compliance for a portfolio of HNW individuals, families, and entities
- Lead preparation and review of individual, trust, and partnership returns
- Work closely with financial advisors and partners on proactive tax strategies
- Hire, mentor, and manage junior- to mid-level tax professionals
- Identify opportunities for deeper integration between tax and wealth functions
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 10+ years in public accounting or boutique tax firms with significant HNW exposure
- Experience building or leading a practice (or a division/team within a larger firm)
- Deep technical knowledge across individual, trust, estate, and pass-through taxation
- Strong communication and leadership skills; confident client-facing presence
- Ability to evaluate and implement tax software, workflow tools, and process infrastructure
- CPA or EA required; MST, LLM, or CFP® a plus
