Job Title: Tax Manager / Sr Tax Manager

Company Profile: ~25 person privately owned CPA firm out of TX

Remote: Yes - 100% remote; Can hire anywhere in TX, TN or FL

Compensation: Up to $170k base + bonuses + benefits


Company Overview


We're a ~25 person privately owned CPA firm out of TX that's been in business for 20+ years servicing small businesses in the $1 - 10+ million annual range. We provide our clients with tax compliance, advisory & bookkeeping services to help them run their businesses.


We are actively looking for a strong Tax Manager / Sr Tax Manager, who has 8+ years of public accounting experience & reviewing tax returns for small businesses. We're looking for someone who is passionate about offering high quality tax service to clients and offer the flexibility of remote.


Responsibilities


  • Lead and manage the Tax Return division.
  • Conduct final reviews of complex individual, partnership, and corporate returns for accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee team workflow, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Mentor and train preparers, planners, and reviewers to maintain firm standards.
  • Review and approve tax strategies developed by the Tax Return division.
  • Collaborate with leadership to improve systems, processes, and efficiency.
  • Address and resolve complex tax issues and questions.
  • Ensure all work reflects the firm’s values, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Support client relationships through clear communication and technical excellence.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state tax law.


Qualifications


  • CPA license required
  • 10+ years of experience in public accounting with significant review and management experience
  • Expertise in complex business and individual returns (partnerships, S corps, C corps, multi-state)
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor a team
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws, planning strategies, and compliance standards
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to continuous learning, professional growth, and operational excellence
