Position Overview
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will support Project Managers in the successful execution of commercial interior construction projects ranging up to $5M+. This role is ideal for a driven construction professional looking to build leadership skills while gaining exposure to all aspects of project delivery.
The APM will play a key role in coordination, documentation, budgeting support, and client communication to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers in managing commercial TI / interior fit-out projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Support subcontractor buyout, contract administration, and procurement activities
- Track and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
- Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules
- Monitor budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting
- Coordinate with superintendents to ensure field operations align with project goals
- Participate in client meetings and maintain strong communication with owners, architects, and trade partners
- Help ensure quality control and safety compliance standards are met
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in commercial construction (GC experience preferred)
- Experience with Tenant Improvement / Interior Fit-Out projects strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required with relevant experience)
- Strong understanding of construction documents and specifications
- Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar construction management software
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
