What You Will Be Doing:
The Senior Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing third-party general contractors through all phases of construction on large-scale apartment and student housing developments, from preconstruction through closeout. This role will actively manage budgets, schedules, quality control, and risk mitigation while ensuring projects remain aligned with ownership goals and lender requirements. The position requires frequent on-site presence across multiple markets, traveling approximately 10 days per month to monitor progress, resolve issues, and maintain accountability. Working closely with development, design, and operations teams, the Senior Construction Manager will drive execution, proactively address challenges, and deliver complex projects on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.
Job Requirements For This Position:
10+ years of construction management experience, with a strong background in large-scale multifamily and/or student housing developments
Proven experience overseeing third-party general contractors on projects exceeding $100MM in total construction value
Deep knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, cost controls, procurement, and contract administration
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across different markets, with travel up to ~10 days per month
Expertise in reviewing and approving budgets, GMPs, change orders, pay applications, and project schedules
Strong understanding of building codes, life-safety systems, quality control standards, and risk management
Experience coordinating with developers, architects, engineers, lenders, and municipal agencies
Ability to proactively identify issues, mitigate risk, and drive projects to stay on schedule and within budget
Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with a firm but collaborative approach to GC oversight
Proficiency with construction technology and reporting tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera, or similar)
Willingness and ability to travel regularly and be on-site as needed during critical phases of construction
