Wireless Communications Research Engineer – 5G/6G and Connected Mobility

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Wireless Communications Research Engineer to contribute to advanced wireless communication research, technology development, and industry standardization. This role focuses on next-generation wireless technologies, including 5G, 6G, integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), and connected mobility applications.

The successful candidate will contribute to industry standards, conduct innovative research, collaborate with internal and external partners, and support the development of new technologies and intellectual property. Opportunities to publish research findings in academic journals and conferences may be available, depending on project objectives and results.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and standardization of current and next-generation wireless communication technologies, including 5G and 6G.
• Research and develop advanced wireless communication solutions, including integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) and connected mobility technologies.
• Analyze wireless communication standards, technical specifications, and emerging industry trends.
• Develop technical proposals, research reports, invention disclosures, and patent applications.
• Prepare technical documents and contribute to industry standards and working group activities.
• Design, conduct, and evaluate research and development projects in collaboration with internal teams, academic institutions, and industry partners.
• Identify new research opportunities and propose innovative technical solutions.
• Prepare technical presentations and communicate research findings to technical teams, management, and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to industry consortia, collaborative research initiatives, and other standardization activities as needed.
• Support academic publications and conference presentations based on research outcomes.
• Manage multiple projects and deliverables while meeting established timelines and quality expectations.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
• Research and development experience in wireless communications or related technologies.
• Strong understanding of wireless communication systems, protocols, and industry standards.
• Knowledge of wireless communication technologies at the physical layer (Layer 1) and data link layer (Layer 2).
• Familiarity with cellular communication standards, such as 4G LTE and 5G NR, and industry standardization processes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical research skills.
• Ability to learn new technologies, explore emerging research areas, and develop innovative solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Strong organizational skills, time management, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, international team environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a professional approach to communication and collaboration.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience contributing to industry standardization activities, such as 3GPP, IEEE, ETSI, or SAE.
• Experience in 5G NR, 6G, integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), or connected and autonomous vehicle communications.
• Experience preparing technical contributions, invention disclosures, patents, or academic publications.
• Experience collaborating with industry partners, research organizations, or academic institutions.
• Familiarity with wireless communication research, system design, performance evaluation, or protocol development.
