About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Steakhouse General Manager to oversee the daily operations of a full-service, fine-dining restaurant. The General Manager will lead the front and back of house, provide exceptional Guest service, manage staff, control costs, and ensure the restaurant operates safely, efficiently, and profitably.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with restaurant management experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for hospitality and Guest service.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily front-of-house and back-of-house restaurant operations.
- Lead, train, schedule, and evaluate restaurant staff.
- Recruit and hire Team Members as needed.
- Create a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
- Provide exceptional Guest service and resolve Guest concerns professionally.
- Set daily, weekly, and monthly goals and lead the team toward achieving them.
- Conduct daily pre-shift meetings to communicate important information and service expectations.
- Monitor food quality, preparation, inventory, and ordering.
- Work with the kitchen team on menus, specials, and food quality.
- Manage budgets, labor costs, inventory, and other operating expenses.
- Review financial, sales, inventory, and attendance reports.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and food-handling requirements.
- Ensure all required paperwork and reports are completed accurately and on time.
- Make sure ongoing employee training is completed.
- Approve staff payroll before payroll deadlines.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, respect, and excellent service.
- Identify and resolve operational issues and make sound business decisions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of food, beer, spirits, and wine.
- Culinary knowledge or experience preferred.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a restaurant team.
- Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
- Experience with budgeting, cost control, inventory, and financial reporting.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures.
- Excellent Guest service skills with a focus on building Guest loyalty.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; college coursework preferred.
- At least 3 years of Assistant Manager experience and 1 year of Restaurant Manager experience with financial/fiscal responsibility in a full-service fine-dining restaurant.
- Current Food Handler Manager certification and RBS certification preferred. Candidates who do not currently have these certifications may be required to obtain them after hire.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Gaming License, including successfully completing a background investigation.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Physical & Schedule Requirements
- Position is on-site in Madera, CA.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., with or without assistance.
- Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight/graveyard shifts.
