Located in Vancouver, the Post-Secondary Employers’ Association (PSEA) is the accredited bargaining agent for nineteen public colleges, special purpose teaching universities, and institutes in British Columbia. PSEA provides labour relations and human resources direction and support to its member institutions including the coordination of collective bargaining, sectoral grievances/arbitrations, management of the sector’s compensation framework, administration of forty-two collective agreements, dissemination of human resources best practices, delivery of labour relations training, and consultation with the various unions. Opportunity

PSEA is recruiting for the position of Assistant, Finance & Administration. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance and administration professional who enjoys variety, values accuracy, and wants to contribute in a collaborative, service-oriented organization. Reporting to the Manager, Finance & Administration, you will help keep PSEA’s day-to-day financial and administrative operations responsive and running smoothly.


The role offers a rewarding mix of hands-on finance and office administration. You will support accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, financial records, month-end and year-end reporting, audit preparation, vendors, and financial policies and controls. You will also contribute to internal events, office procedures and supplies, records management, surveys, website updates, and LinkedIn posts. Working with PSEA staff, service providers, and representatives of member institutions, this is a strong fit for someone who takes pride in dependable work and being a helpful resource to others.


This permanent, part-time role offers 21 hours per week during standard business hours, with no evening or weekend work. It may be scheduled as three full days or four to five half-days. The position will begin onsite in Vancouver and transition to a hybrid model, with two days working from home depending on the schedule.


Education & Experience

•        Two to five years of hands-on experience in bookkeeping and administrative work, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial record-keeping.

•        A high degree of competency using Sage 50, QuickBooks, or a similar accounting system, along with proficiency in Microsoft 365.

•        A bookkeeping certification or diploma or degree in accounting or business is an asset.

•        Experience with an Association Management System is an asset.

•        Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.

•        The ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy.

•        A collaborative, service-focused style, with the ability to build effective working relationships and work confidently both independently and as part of a team.

•        Clear written and verbal communication, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a practical approach to getting things done.

The salary range for this position is $37,067.70 to $46,334.63 (0.6 FTE). A qualified applicant with experience is anticipated to commence near the mid‐point of the salary scale, with less experienced applications being placed lower. This is a permanent, part-time position.
