POSITION TITLE: Physiotherapist

Summary

We require a skilled Physiotherapist to provide rehabilitation services to Residents. You will be responsible for providing assessments and serving as a resource and educator to the Home’s staff and Residents/Families regarding equipment recommendations. You can look forward to our competitive compensation package, which reflects how we value your background, experience, education, and commitment to clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide assessments, implement, monitor, and modify equipment to achieve Resident/Family goals in the areas of seating and positioning, equipment use and safety, and strategies to improve function
• Provide in-house staff education sessions on topics such as adaptive equipment and ergonomic set-up for staff injury prevention, as required

Qualifications

• Registrant in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario or College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
• Completion of satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) upon hire
• Up-to-date on required vaccinations, including influenza vaccine (or commitment to take anti-viral medications in case of an outbreak), MMR, DTaP, varicella, and TB skin test
• Knowledge/experience in evidence-based musculoskeletal and neurological practice, with a strong emphasis on functional outcomes
• Superior communication and clinical reasoning skills
• Caring and compassionate in all interactions with Residents and Families

Desirable skills and experience include previous delivery of Physiotherapy Services for the geriatric population in an integrated care setting, preferably in a Long-Term Care Home. This includes expertise in fitting and prescription of adaptive equipment, wheelchairs and scooters, seating and positioning aids, and splints and braces.
