Our client, a family-owned Food Manufacturer, is looking for a Technical Assistant for their site based in North London. The successful candidate will undertake a supporting role for both the Quality Manager and Production teams with a mix of factory and office-based responsibilities.
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, responsibilities for the role will include:
· Completing Quality Control checks and daily checks, communicating and reporting discrepancies
· Recording, monitoring and investigating any complaints to identify trends
· Conducting internal audits against BRCGS clauses or customer standards
· Designing, implementing and maintaining the laboratory testing schedules (water, environment, products)
· Updating existing product specifications in line with any recipe and other changes, including internal factory specifications, QAS / factory product guides, and external customer online portal specifications
· Update supplier approval documents as necessary
· Organising shelf-life monitoring of the existing and newly developed products
· Maintaining the product organoleptic assessments, documenting findings and actioning if required
Essential / Desirable skills include:
· A graduate in a food related area of study, for example, Food Science / Technology
· Experience working in the QA, Technical or Process Development function of a food manufacturing business
· Confident working unsupervised
· Excellent communication skills
· Experience in implementing the requirements of a Quality Management System within the food industry
· Relevant training in HACCP and Internal Auditing from previous employment

The working hours for the role are 7:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday. The salary is up to £35k per annum dependent on experience, plus an excellent benefits package.
