Product Development Manager for a multi-site food manufacturer based in Teesside. The role offers hybrid working, typically with 3 days on site and 2 days working from home. The successful candidate will combine consumer-led product design with technical baking expertise to deliver EPD/NPD projects as well as co-leading the long-term innovation strategy for baked goods.

 

Reporting to the Head of Research and Development, responsibilities for the role will include:

·      Leading the end-to-end delivery of NPD and EPD initiatives for baked products, ensuring alignment with short-term tactical goals and the longer-term strategic innovation pipeline.

·      Collaborating cross-functionally with stakeholders to shape and deliver the long-term UK baked strategy, from concept creation through to commercialisation.

·      Applying a strong technical knowledge of baked goods, including ingredient functionality, recipe formulation, and baking processes, to design and execute robust experimental plans from benchtop through to factory scale trials.

·      Leading trial planning, implementation and reporting to drive data-led decision-making and technical validation of concepts.

·      Maintaining expert understanding of site-specific baked flavouring systems, flavour functionality and testing methodologies


Essential / Desirable skills include:

·      Experience of New Product Development in a Foods FMCG environment including Bakery industry with brand and retailer brand products from concept to market.

·      Strong experience managing a portfolio of projects for multiple stakeholders in a high-paced environment

·      Bakery qualifications/certification are an advantage.

·      Excellent computer skills using Business Systems, particularly for experimental design/data analysis & interpretation

·      Solid understanding of factory environments and Food Industry Technical standards and compliance- HACCP, BRC, AIB etc.

·      Driving Licence essential
