Site Quality Manager for a complex food manufacturing site based in Ceredigion, West Wales. This role is the most senior Technical / Quality position on site. Responsible for ensuring that all products manufactured by the company meet food safety, quality, legality and customers’ requirements. As part of the Site Quality Leadership, manage & develop the team. Continued development of a positive food safety culture across all site operations. Manage the analytical & micro laboratory, quality assurance, supplier management and all aspects of site technical compliance.
Reporting to the Factory Manager, responsibilities for the role will include:
· Ensuring the site meets & maintains all food safety standards as well as all quality, legal, customer and accreditation requirements at all times
· Ensuring compliance with product specifications for all manufactured products and for all incoming ingredients, packaging & chemicals.
· Ensuring the HACCP Food Safety Programme is managed within best practice guidance & fully implemented
· Champion the development of a robust and sustainable food safety culture
· Leading, developing and maintaining robust food safety management systems based on HACCP principles and risk, and including suitable VACCP & TACCP programmes in support of these systems
· Implement robust continuous improvement programs in respect of product safety & quality and use various CI tools to underpin a CI culture
· Cost-control and budget accountability for the Technical department
· Continue well-established relationship with Local Authorities
Essential / Desirable skills include:
· BSc degree level qualification in Food Science, Microbiology or other directly related subject or equivalent
· Significant experience in a Technical or Quality Management role within the food industry
· Strong leadership, team building and communication skills.
· Proven Project & Root Cause Analysis management skills.
· Strong reporting skills including the ability to translate data into useful information
· Experience with Food Safety management systems and dealing with customer audits and external certification audits
· Preferred Advanced HACCP (Level 4) or equivalent.
· Situationally aware with the ability to adapt own style appropriately.
· Ability to work accurately, calmly and objectively under pressure.
