About the Role

Our client is a progressive family-owned farming business dedicated to utilizing modern machinery and production methods to grow a diverse range of crops, including potatoes, onions, carrots, vining peas, and cereals, across 2,000 hectares. The farm produces 30,000 tons of onions and potatoes annually, with a significant portion managed from the main handling site, where approximately 10,000 tons are stored for dispatch throughout the year.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Operate large farm equipment, including GPS-enabled tractors and harvesters, for efficient planting and harvesting of root crops
• Experience with root crops (Potato, Carrot, Onion)
• Manage and oversee irrigation systems to maintain optimal crop growth and health.
• Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on farm machinery to ensure smooth operations.
• Collaborate with farm team members to ensure high standards in crop production and meet daily objectives.
• Adapt to changing weather conditions and troubleshoot any issues impacting crop or equipment performance.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience in planting and harvesting, especially with root crops (potatoes, onions, carrots).
• Competence in operating large-scale farming equipment with GPS technology.
• Background in irrigation systems and water management.
• Red Seal certification is advantageous but not required.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work in various weather conditions and adapt to new challenges.

Skilled Worker Visa Requirements

To qualify for a Skilled Worker Visa, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Grade 12 High school certificate
• Visa Application Funding: Must independently cover the cost of the visa application.
• English Proficiency: Successfully complete a SELT (Secure English Language Test) or equivalent to demonstrate required English language skills.
• Travel Arrangements: Responsible for financing your own flights to the UK.
• Health Requirements: Obtain a Tuberculosis (TB) test certificate.
• Police Clearance: Provide a valid SAPS365 Police Clearance Certificate.
• Maintenance Funds: Show proof of at least £1,270 in available funds to support living expenses for the 1st Month in the UK.
