Deputy Head Teacher - Deputy Nursery Manager - Bayswater

Salary: £30k - £32k pa (GROSS) Subject to experience and qualifications. Annual salary review. Paid throughout holiday periods.

Working hours: Term time. Monday – Thursday from 8 am - 4.30 pm; Friday from 8 am – 1.30 pm

Start date: 01st September 2026



Purpose of the job: To provide safe, high-quality early years education and care for children aged 2 – 5 yrs.

To fulfil legal and statutory requirements.

To support the Head Teacher in managing staff on a day-to-day basis.

To contribute and implement school policies.

To ensure that all statutory, legal and setting obligations are followed and met. To be a Group Teacher.


Qualifications: Minimum Level 3 Qualification; preferably EYT or EYP status; minimum 3 years’ experience working with young children


Main duties

1.To take responsibility for drawing up sessional curriculum plans for your group which include requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for guidance, and to monitor the effectiveness of the setting’s curriculum.

2.To assist the Principal/Head Teacher with ensuring that the nursery consistently meets the requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage to a minimum good standard.

3.To assist the Principal/Head Teacher with the performance management systems e.g. induction, supervision, team meetings, objective setting/development plans etc.

4.To contribute to and conduct the daily programme and planning of Kindergarten activities and events.

5.To be responsible for implementing systems of observation and record keeping for your key children so that their progress and achievements are effectively and regularly assessed.

6.To ensure that the welfare and safety of children are promoted within the setting and that any child protection concerns are always appropriately acted upon immediately.

7.To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the Kindergarten and its curriculum, exchanging information about your key children's progress and encouraging parents' involvement.

8.To assist the Principal/Head Teacher and other staff members in implementing any recommendations made following regulatory inspections.

9.To contribute to and to implement all Kindergarten policies and procedures, e.g. register and signing out procedures, child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, food safety, setting hygiene etc.

10.To attend any conferences, training events or meetings, as identified by the Principal/Head Teacher and to keep up-to-date with current good practice.

11.To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by Principal/Head Teacher, in accordance with the setting’s objectives.
