Nursery Curriculum manager

Location: Balham

Reports to: Nursery Manager / Head of Early Years

Salary: £37,000 - £41,000

Hours: Full-time

Job Purpose

Job Purpose

To support the Nursery Manager in the overall leadership, operational management, and quality assurance of the nursery. You will oversee daily operations, maintain high standards of care and education

This role combines operational oversight with hands-on Curriculum leadership to ensure the nursery runs efficiently, safely, and in line with standards and organisational values.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery.
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted (or relevant regulatory body) standards, EYFS framework, safeguarding policies, and health & safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records including attendance, staffing ratios, accidents, incidents, and safeguarding documentation.
  • Ensure the nursery environment is safe, secure, and well-maintained.
  • Support induction, supervision, and performance management of staff.
  • Lead staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to room leaders and practitioners.
  • Ensure staff deployment meets required ratios at all times.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and professional working culture.
  • Monitor planning, observations, and assessments to ensure high-quality early years provision.
  • Support implementation of the EYFS curriculum. To support and monitor key worker system (planning of activities/ profiles/ observations) in room. Ensuring that all staff are aware of their tasks on a daily basis and are used to maximise preparation time for activities and engaging with children.
  • Drive continuous improvement and contribute to nursery development plans.
  • Ensure children’s learning environments are stimulating and developmentally appropriate.
  • Support preparation for inspections and quality assurance visits.
  • Promote children’s wellbeing, inclusion, and equal opportunities.
  • Support children with additional needs in partnership with SENCO and external agencies.
  • Support parent meetings, events, and open days.

- Yearly salary up to £41k!

- 40 hour working week (8am-6pm 4 days per week and a half day off each week)

- 31 days holiday (including bank holidays and 9 days off over Christmas and Easter)
