NETA LEVEL III ELECTRICAL TEST TECHNICIAN (LEAD)

Location: Oshkosh, WI area preferred (regional travel radius); some national travel required

Compensation: $70+ per hour, based on experience

Travel: Regional (primarily Wisconsin) with occasional national project travel; standard Sunday/Monday–Friday rotation, home on weekends

Project Length: Typically 1–2 weeks per assignment; crews of 4–5 technicians including the lead

Employment Type: Full Time

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is a well-established and rapidly growing electrical testing and generator services firm based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Historically a local/regional NETA testing company, they've expanded significantly over the past year and a half — adding national accounts (including Verizon facilities across nearly every state), a fast-growing generator services division, and an increasing amount of work supporting service-disabled veteran-owned projects and VA hospitals.

They're now looking for an experienced NETA Level III Technician to backfill a temporary vacancy on their field services team and help lead testing crews on acceptance and maintenance projects.

WHY CONSIDER THIS OPPORTUNITY

  • Join a growing, NETA-accredited testing firm with an expanding regional and national footprint.
  • Lead crews of 4–5 technicians on protective relay, apparatus, and P&C testing projects.
  • Predictable rotation — home every weekend, no extended stretches away from family.
  • All travel (airfare, lodging) covered directly by the company; per diem provided for incidentals.
  • Competitive starting pay of $70/hour and up, based on experience.
  • Steady mix of regional Wisconsin-based work with select national project travel.
  • Team includes several military veterans; military electrical/electronics backgrounds are valued.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

The ideal candidate is a seasoned NETA III (or directly equivalent) technician who can independently perform advanced electrical testing and lead a small crew through a project from start to finish — managing both the technical scope and the personnel on site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and perform acceptance and maintenance testing on electrical apparatus, protective relays, and control systems.
  • Manage crews of 4–5 technicians (including self) across 1–2 week field assignments.
  • Perform testing across a range of voltage classes, including protective relaying, CT/PT metering, and apparatus testing.
  • Travel to client sites regionally (primarily Wisconsin) and occasionally nationally (Verizon facilities and other national accounts) as project needs require.
  • Coordinate with the field service manager and/or engineering manager on technical scope and project execution.
  • Ensure testing is properly staged, safely executed, and documented to NETA standards.
  • Mentor and provide oversight to junior technicians on the crew.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • NETA Level III certification (equivalent certification and experience will also be considered, depending on timing and crew ratios).
  • Proven experience independently leading electrical testing projects and field crews.
  • Strong working knowledge of protective relaying, apparatus testing, and CT/PT metering.
  • Willingness to travel regionally within Wisconsin and occasionally nationally as project needs require.
  • Strong communication and personnel management skills.
  • Military electrical/electronics background (Navy, Army, Air Force — including Prime Power) is a plus.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • $70.00/hour and up, based on experience.
  • All travel expenses (airfare, lodging) covered directly by the company.
  • $60/day per diem for incidentals, in addition to a company-issued credit card.
  • Company vehicles provided on a project basis (vehicles are tied to projects rather than issued to individuals).
  • Standard rotation designed to keep technicians home on weekends.

LOCATION NOTE

Preferably based in the Wisconsin area (Oshkosh, Milwaukee, or Green Bay) or within a comfortable regional driving radius (roughly 2–3 hours). Highly qualified candidates based elsewhere with strong travel availability will also be considered.
