Location: Primarily based in the DC to Manassas region, with minimal travel

Key Responsibilities

As a Field Service Engineer, you will:

  • Perform testing on instruments, CT, PT, and CPT transformers.
  • Conduct low-voltage and medium-voltage breaker testing.
  • Handle switchgear startup and commissioning tasks.
  • Perform power transformer testing, including Doble, TTR, insulation resistance, and winding resistance testing.
  • Read and interpret one-line diagrams and schematic drawings.
  • Work safely and adhere to all electrical safety principles and procedures.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with electrical test equipment and hand tools.
  • Use and manage relevant software, including CX Alloy and Power DB.
  • Provide mentorship to technicians of varying skill levels.
  • Manage service reports, expense submissions, and timesheet entries in a timely manner.
  • Complete and pass internal safety audits.
  • Participate in onboarding training and annual retraining sessions as required.
  • Collaborate with General Contractors (GCs) and customers to act as your own project manager.


What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with both internal teams and external clients.
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in Electrical Technology, a four-year apprenticeship program, or related military service preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in electrical testing.
  • Familiarity with OSHA 30-hour, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and CPR/First Aid (training provided if not certified).
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel regionally, with occasional overnight stays.
  • Basic electrical safety training and knowledge of arc flash/PPE requirements.
  • NICET Level I/II certification or willingness to obtain within the first 12 months of employment.
  • IR certification is a plus (must obtain within the first 12 months).
  • Previous experience with power control systems, low and medium voltage applications, or military service in a related field is highly desirable.


Physical Demands

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer or desk.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently and transport equipment over short distances.
  • Requires standing, reaching, walking, and stooping in varying environments, which may include hot, cold, or noisy conditions.

Additional Information:

  • Compensation:
  • NICET Level I: $45,000 – $55,000/year
  • NICET Level II: $55,000 – $65,000/year
  • NICET Level III: $65,000 – $77,500/year
  • NICET Level IV: $75,000 – $85,000/year
  • Relocation Assistance: Case-by-case basis (up to $5,000).
  • Travel: Minimal; approximately 5-10% nationwide travel. Most work will be local, and employees are home most nights.
