Responsibilities & Expectations
The Senior Field Service Technician will be responsible for testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low-, medium-, and high-voltage power distribution equipment. The role may also include helping lead field teams and supporting junior technicians.
Testing & Calibration
- Instrument transformer testing
- Power transformer testing (Doble, Insulation Resistance, TTR)
- Cable testing (Power Factor, Tan Delta, VLF, Hipot)
- Circuit breaker and switchgear testing across LV/MV/HV
- Primary & secondary injection testing
- Protective relay testing (electro-mechanical and solid-state)
- Continuity & ground fault testing
- Power quality analysis
Field Support & Troubleshooting
- Inspect, troubleshoot, start up, and collect data on:
- switchgear, breakers, cables, transformers, relays, VFDs, and ATS equipment
- Perform service, repair, part replacement, and system recommissioning
- Provide recommendations based on findings
Safety & Documentation
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including LOTO
- Complete all required reporting and documentation
- Perform work in alignment with NETA or NICET standards where applicable
Customer Service & Teamwork
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding issues and resolutions
- Support a strong team environment and assist peers in the field
Qualifications & Competencies

5+ years of related electrical testing experience
- Proficiency with industry tools and test sets including:
- Megger, digital multimeters, hipot testers, oil dielectric strength testers, relay test sets, primary/secondary injection equipment, cable fault detectors, oscilloscopes
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with 3+ years driving experience
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, operating manuals, and safety guidelines
- Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, and participate in on-call rotations
