We are seeking a talented and motivated Power Systems Engineer to join our growing team!

 

Position Overview:

As a Power Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of power systems through both engineering design and field service testing. This hybrid role requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, hands-on field experience, and the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Duties:
  • Design, develop, and analyze power systems and components including substations, relays, transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers.
  • Conduct simulations and modeling of electrical systems to optimize performance and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Create and review technical specifications, schematics, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that meet client requirements and project goals.
  • Perform system studies and analyses including short circuit, relay coordination, and power quality assessments.


  • Field Service Testing:
  • Conduct on-site inspections, testing, and commissioning of power systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues in the field, providing effective solutions and recommendations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of test equipment and instruments.
  • Document test results, prepare reports, and present findings to clients and internal teams.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and industry regulations during field operations.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution allowing for PE licensure in South Carolina.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in power systems engineering, with hands-on field service testing experience preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong understanding of electrical theory, power systems, and power electronics.
  • Proficiency with engineering software and tools such as MATLAB, ETAP, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in both office and field environments.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for field service activities.

Certifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Certification in Power System Protection or related fields.
