Electrical Field Test Technician (NETA 2, 3, or 4) – Travel Role

Reno, NV | Full-Time | $67–$70/hr

About the Role

We’re partnering with a leading electrical services provider to hire a Senior Electrical Field Test Technician for a full-time, direct-hire travel position based out of Reno, NV. This role is ideal for an experienced NETA-certified (or equivalent) technician who enjoys fieldwork, solving complex challenges, and mentoring junior team members.

This position requires 100% travel and offers excellent pay, benefits, and incentives such as relocation or temporary housing support, a take-home company service vehicle with fuel card, and more.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and start-up of electrical power distribution systems at customer sites.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior technicians and trainees.
  • Execute testing and maintenance on switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, cables, relays, motor control centers, and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot generator controls, automatic transfer switches, and power metering systems.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses, including arc-flash and shock risk assessments.
  • Document test results, prepare field reports, and maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Rotate emergency on-call duty and assist as a technical expert in customer support.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years’ experience in electrical testing and commissioning.
  • Strong background with NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards.
  • Knowledge of NFPA70E Electrical Safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical performance deficiencies.
  • Comfortable traveling regionally 100% of the time.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to meet pre-employment screenings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current NETA Level 3 or 4 certification (or NICET equivalent).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring or supervising technical teams.
  • Proven track record in handling large-scale or complex electrical projects.
