Application Engineer II – Building Automation Systems (BAS)
Location: Los Alamitos, CA (Candidates must live within 50 miles of the office)
Salary: $65,000–$100,000 (depending on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (some flexibility and occasional overtime/travel required)
Overview:
KDC Systems, the controls integration division of KDC Inc. (an EMCOR company), is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to join their team. This role focuses on the design, programming, and commissioning of Building Automation and Control Systems (BAS/BMS) for projects in industrial, life sciences, and water/wastewater environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, program, and commission BAS systems from the ground up.
- Develop detailed control system documentation, including control panel layouts, I/O assignments, and electrical schematics.
- Configure and program PLCs, HMIs, and visualization platforms (primarily Rockwell Automation systems).
- Coordinate with internal fabrication teams and external clients during design, testing, and commissioning.
- Lead site startups, system testing, and customer training.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience designing and programming BAS or control systems.
- Must have substantial hands-on programming experience — not just system operation or monitoring.
- Proficiency with Rockwell Automation PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, FactoryTalk View).
- Experience with additional platforms such as AVEVA, Schneider, Siemens, or Ignition is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred.
- Strong communication, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.
