Overview

Southern Staffing Group is seeking an experienced Apparatus Test Technician (NETA II / III or NICET equivalent) to join our client’s growing Electrical Power Services team in Denver, CO.

This role is ideal for a skilled electrical testing professional who enjoys hands-on field work, troubleshooting complex systems, and supporting mission-critical power infrastructure. You’ll travel regionally with a crew to perform testing, maintenance, and commissioning on low, medium, and high-voltage electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and collect data on electrical systems in the field.
  • Maintain, test, and repair switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, and related equipment.
  • Test and calibrate protective relays, motor control centers, and automatic transfer switches.
  • Perform acceptance and maintenance testing in accordance with NETA ATS/MTS and NFPA 70E standards.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (arc-flash, shock, LOTO) and ensure safety compliance.
  • Prepare detailed field reports, timecards, and expense documentation.
  • Participate in emergency on-call rotation as required.
  • Serve as a technical resource to project managers and customers in the field.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience testing electrical apparatus (transformers, breakers, switchgear, etc.).
  • NETA II / III certification or NICET equivalent preferred.
  • Familiar with NETA testing standards and NFPA 70E safety regulations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and data interpretation skills.
  • Knowledge of lockout/tag-out and hazardous-energy control procedures.
  • Ability to travel regionally up to 50%.
  • Clean driving record and drug-free status required.
