We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Field Test Technician to join our client’s dynamic Electrical Power Services team. This position offers the chance to work on exciting projects that involve the safe and efficient installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical power distribution equipment for a diverse client base. The role requires occasional travel (approximately 25%) and provides the opportunity to work independently and collaboratively within a skilled team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel to client sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, and perform start-up activities for electrical systems while collecting and analyzing data.
- Supervise and mentor trainees, assistants, and technicians, ensuring quality and consistency in testing processes.
- Track project progress and communicate updates to internal management and clients.
- Maintain, repair, and test low, medium, and high-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, and related equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair automatic transfer switches and inspect cable installations.
- Test and calibrate solid-state and electromechanical relays, perform relay calibration, and conduct power metering.
- Conduct motor control center testing, contractor testing, and generator control troubleshooting and start-up activities.
- Perform testing and commissioning of protection and control systems in high-voltage substations.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations by completing Job Hazard Analyses, including arc-flash and shock hazard assessments.
- Prepare and submit detailed project reports, timecards, and expense reports.
- Participate in emergency on-call rotations while adhering to regulatory safety standards.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical testing.
- Experience working in team environments and multi-phase projects.
- Knowledge of NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards and NFPA 70E Electrical Safety standards.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical performance issues, including ground faults.
- Familiarity with lockout/tag-out procedures and hazardous energy control.
- Clean driving record and drug-free status.
- Availability to travel regionally (approximately 25%).
Preferred:
- NETA Level 2, NICET equivalent certification, or relevant experience.
- Familiarity with NETA testing standards and procedures is highly desirable.
Compensation & Benefits:

Base Salary: $72,800–$114,000, depending on experience and location.
