Our client, a national leader in facilities solutions, is currently seeking a skilled Electrical Field Test Technician to support their Electrical Power Services division in Leesville, VA. This opportunity is ideal for candidates holding a NETA Level 3 certification or equivalent NICET- EPT certification, or those with equivalent field experience in electrical testing and commissioning.
This role involves performing field testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and start-up of electrical power distribution equipment in commercial and industrial environments. The technician will work both independently and collaboratively, and will play a key role in supervising and mentoring junior technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel to customer sites to perform inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and data collection on electrical systems.
- Supervise and mentor Level 1 and 2 technicians and assistants on project tasks.
- Conduct electrical testing and maintenance of low, medium, and high-voltage systems, including switchgear, circuit breakers, cable systems, and transformers.
- Perform testing and calibration of relays (solid-state and electromechanical), power metering, and motor control centers.
- Commission and troubleshoot generator controls, transfer schemes, and high-voltage substation protection/control systems.
- Maintain accurate field reports, test results, and hazard analyses including arc-flash and shock risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, including NFPA70E and lockout/tag-out procedures.
- Support technical sales efforts with expertise in electrical testing and system maintenance.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical power systems testing.
- Strong background in hands-on testing and commissioning of power distribution equipment.
- Familiarity with NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards.
- Knowledge of NFPA70E Electrical Safety requirements.
- Clean driving record; ability to travel regionally up to 25%.
- Ability to supervise projects and junior personnel effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current NETA Level 2, 3, or 4 certification, or NICET equivalent.
- Experience with NERC-regulated environments.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues.
