Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer, PE – Power Systems

Location: San Antonio, TX

Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite

Position Overview

Southern Staffing Group is seeking a highly experienced and licensed Senior Electrical Engineer (PE) to lead and execute complex Power Systems Engineering projects, with a strong emphasis on arc flash studies, protective device coordination, and short circuit analysis. This role is ideal for a technical leader who is passionate about safety, precision, and mentoring the next generation of engineers.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping engineering strategy, ensuring project excellence, and supporting junior engineers with hands-on guidance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of power systems studies, including:
  • Arc Flash Hazard Analysis (NFPA 70E compliant)
  • Short Circuit & Load Flow Analysis
  • Protective Device Coordination
  • Review and validate system models, study results, and technical reports
  • Interface with clients to define project scopes, deliverables, and timelines
  • Mentor and support junior engineers through technical development and project execution
  • Ensure all studies are performed in compliance with industry codes (IEEE, NEC, NFPA) and internal QA/QC standards
  • Support commissioning efforts and provide technical guidance during system startup
  • Collaborate with field service teams to validate site data and improve engineering accuracy
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for internal staff and client stakeholders as needed


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas (or ability to obtain via reciprocity)
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in power system analysis and electrical design
  • Proficiency with power systems software such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, or similar
  • Deep understanding of electrical safety standards (NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, NEC)
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience collaborating with field engineers and technicians
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • NETA affiliation or familiarity with NETA testing standards
  • Experience delivering technical training or internal QA/QC reviews
  • Familiarity with industrial, utility, or critical infrastructure projects
