Senior Estimator
Location: Nashville, TN, United States | Nashville Office
Summary
A highly regarded national construction and development firm is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead complex estimating efforts. This position requires strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Senior Estimator will oversee the preparation and coordination of detailed cost estimates for large-scale and technically challenging projects.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Project Estimating
- Lead estimating efforts on large, complex, and self-performed projects
- Prepare conceptual and detailed cost models, including self-perform work estimates
- Strategically plan for estimate preparation, pricing, scheduling, and bid submission
- Identify and select qualified subcontractors and suppliers for participation in the bidding process
- Assign and review work completed by estimating team members to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Conduct quantity takeoffs, cost analyses, and subcontractor proposal evaluations
- Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) during the estimating phase
- Maintain communication with team members, owners, architects, and engineers throughout the process
- Ensure all stakeholders understand scope, assumptions, and updates
- Research applicable tax codes, union agreements, and permitting requirements that impact project costs
- Analyze historical cost data to improve estimating accuracy and benchmarking
- Assist in selecting project systems, materials, and estimating software
- Participate in project scheduling and preconstruction planning
- Mentor, train, and evaluate junior estimators and support staff
Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of nine (9) years of construction experience, including at least six (6) years in estimating roles
- LEED AP or DBIA certification preferred
- Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
- Strong knowledge of construction practices, building systems, and general business principles
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
- High degree of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude
- Proficiency with estimating software and tools such as ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam, and Google Earth
- Current driver’s license

Compensation may vary by region (e.g., Denver, Seattle, Chicago, Portland, Washington D.C.). Final offer determined by experience, skills, and internal equity. This role is eligible for annual performance incentives.
