Energy Infrastructure Project Manager-Southeast

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a diverse portfolio of energy infrastructure projects across the southeastern United States. This role supports development and delivery of complex initiatives including natural gas transmission and midstream systems, electric transmission and grid modernization, data-center interconnections, and renewable energy projects such as utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth, strategic thinking, and leadership capabilities to guide multidisciplinary teams through environmental, regulatory, and engineering challenges across multiple energy sectors.


Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Manage full lifecycle of multi-sector energy infrastructure projects from feasibility through construction support and closeout
  • Develop integrated project schedules incorporating engineering, environmental studies, ROW, permitting, and construction sequencing
  • Oversee scope, schedule, budget, and deliverable quality
  • Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies tied to regulatory, environmental, and stakeholder constraints

Routing, Environmental Planning & Compliance

  • Lead siting and routing for pipelines, transmission lines, data center interconnections, and renewable energy facilities
  • Coordinate environmental field programs and impact assessments
  • Translate technical findings into defensible mitigation strategies
  • Ensure environmental compliance during pre-construction and construction including monitoring, reporting, and contractor oversight

Permitting & Regulatory Coordination

  • Develop permitting strategies under FERC, NEPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory frameworks
  • Support FERC Section 7(c) processes and environmental review pathways
  • Coordinate agency consultations, ROW access, and multi-jurisdictional approvals
  • Maintain regulatory defensibility across technical filings and environmental documentation

Multi-Sector Energy Expertise

  • Support projects involving natural gas transmission, electric transmission and grid modernization, renewable energy development, and large-load/data center interconnection
  • Understand ISO/RTO planning drivers, interconnection requirements, and reliability considerations impacting project development

Client Engagement & Business Development

  • Support proposal development including scopes, schedules, and budgets
  • Participate in client meetings and industry engagement
  • Build strong relationships with utilities, developers, engineering firms, and regulatory stakeholders


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental planning, engineering, project management, or related field
  • 10+ years supporting energy infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated lifecycle experience across natural gas, transmission, renewable energy, or related infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of FERC, NEPA, environmental permitting, and multi-agency coordination
  • Experience developing integrated project schedules
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel as required
