Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience in gas utility distribution, transmission, and facilities design to support critical infrastructure projects. This role will focus on engineering analysis, system design, and client coordination across a portfolio of natural gas projects. This is a high-impact opportunity for an engineer on the EIT-to-PE track who wants to take on more responsibility, client interaction, and technical ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and perform mechanical engineering design and analysis for gas utility systems, including:
- Gas distribution pipelines
- Transmission systems
- Gas facilities and LNG infrastructure
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring alignment on:
- Project scope
- Budget and cost controls
- Schedule and deliverables
- Support business development efforts by:
- Assisting with technical proposals and scopes of work
- Preparing cost estimates and project documentation
- Establish and define mechanical design criteria, including:
- Material selection
- Equipment sizing and specifications
- Design standards and best practices
- Lead and participate in design reviews with:
- Internal engineering teams
- Clients and stakeholders
- Regulatory agencies
- Ensure all designs meet:
- Client specifications
- Quality standards

Applicable codes and regulations (e.g., pipeline and gas utility standards)
- Develop and coordinate:
- Construction packages
- Technical specifications
- Material requirements
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, electrical, construction) to deliver efficient and compliant solutions
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers
- Support resolution of complex engineering and design challenges
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field)
- 3–6 years of experience in:
- Mechanical design engineering
- Gas utility, pipeline, or energy infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of:
- Gas distribution and/or transmission systems
- Engineering design principles and standards
- Experience working in both:
- Independent engineering roles
- Team-based, collaborative environments
- Proficiency with:
- AutoCAD
- Microsoft Excel
- Bluebeam
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification; actively pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with:
- Gas distribution and transmission systems
- Gas facilities and LNG projects
- Technical report writing and documentation
- Familiarity with:
- Utility client standards (e.g., major gas utilities)
- Regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks
