PROJECT MANAGER 2 – COMMERCIAL ELECTRICAL
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager 2 to manage small to medium-sized commercial electrical construction projects within the Service and Commercial divisions.
The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of project management experience in the commercial electrical industry and a strong understanding of project financials, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, change management, and client relationships. This position is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and profitably while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative, organized, and solutions-oriented professional who can work independently, manage competing priorities, and provide leadership and mentorship to project engineering and junior project management staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage small to medium-sized commercial electrical projects ranging from approximately $100K to $1M.
- Manage a portfolio of projects with a total workload of approximately $2M–$5M.
- Make sound project decisions with an emphasis on controlling risk and minimizing uncertainty.
- Maintain overall responsibility for assigned projects, including budgets, schedules, materials, subcontractors, crews, and profitability.
- Monitor the quantity and quality of work performed across assigned projects.
- Review and approve project expenses, ensuring costs are properly allocated to the appropriate job and phase codes.
- Provide guidance and direction to the billing team, including development of schedules of values, cost clarification, and interpretation of contractual billing requirements.
- Oversee the change order process and manage circumstances that alter project scope, schedule, cost, or payment.
- Monitor contract compliance and help protect the company from potential liabilities, claims, liens, and collection issues.
- Participate in resolving complex project issues, field challenges, and project start-up problems.
- Coordinate closely with Project Engineers, field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
- Bring in new work and develop strong relationships with customers while understanding and responding to their project needs.
- Support customer communications and maintain positive, professional relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to junior Project Managers and Project Engineers.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, contractual requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform additional duties and assignments as directed by the Division Manager.
Education & Experience

4+ years of commercial electrical construction or project management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Additional education or training in construction, project management, electrical systems, or related disciplines is preferred.
- Minimum of 40 hours of relevant continuing education or professional development preferred.
- Experience managing commercial electrical projects from preconstruction through completion.
- Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, change orders, subcontractors, and client relationships.
- Proven ability to manage a combined project workload of approximately $2M–$5M.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proficiency with Accubid and Bluebeam.
- Experience with Spectrum or comparable construction/project management software.
- Strong familiarity with project management software, methodologies, and best practices.
- Ability to understand project financials, budgets, cost coding, schedules, and contract requirements.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a combination of temperature-controlled offices and active construction environments. The position may require exposure to outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and other weather elements. Travel between project locations, customer sites, offices, and meetings may be required.
Noise levels may range from moderate to loud depending on the work environment.
