ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR 1
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator 1 to provide estimating support to the operations and preconstruction teams. The ideal candidate will have commercial electrical estimating experience and the ability to analyze construction documents, perform accurate electrical quantity take-offs, obtain subcontractor and supplier pricing, and prepare competitive project proposals.
This position will be responsible for supporting the development and submission of estimates while ensuring proposals accurately reflect project requirements, scope, costs, risks, and opportunities. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, deadline-driven, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with weekly estimating department reporting, tracking, and administrative activities.
- Analyze and interpret bid documents and perform accurate quantity take-offs for electrical and low-voltage systems.
- Review material and equipment pricing for accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness.
- Review construction plans, specifications, addenda, and front-end contract documents.
- Perform constructability reviews and participate in value engineering exercises.
- Research and identify upcoming projects and potential bidding opportunities.
- Prepare bid forms and develop or update proposal scope letters with project-specific information and requirements.
- Prepare and submit bids, proposals, and prequalification packages in accordance with project requirements and deadlines.
- Identify sensitive project requirements, potential risks, threats, and opportunities that may impact estimating accuracy or project execution.
- Prepare, package, and submit accurate and competitive estimates within established timelines.
- Request and evaluate quotes from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
- Maintain professional and productive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, customers, colleagues, supervisors, and other project stakeholders.
- Schedule and participate in project turnover meetings.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of project turnover documentation.
- Coordinate estimating workloads and priorities with the Estimating Supervisor.
- Perform additional assignments and responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of commercial electrical estimating experience preferred.
- General knowledge of construction industry disciplines, processes, terminology, and procedures.
- Experience estimating commercial electrical and low-voltage systems strongly preferred.
License & Certifications
- Valid California Class C driver's license required.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Accubid and LiveCount preferred.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate knowledge of:
- Excel
- Word
- Outlook
- PowerPoint
- Ability to accurately enter data and perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Ability to effectively organize and disseminate complex project information.

- Construction industry experience is strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods while performing computer-based estimating and administrative work.
- Ability to efficiently operate a computer, calculator, copier, and other standard business equipment.
- Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination necessary to perform job duties.
- Ability to maintain concentration and accuracy while performing detailed calculations and reviewing construction documents.
- Ability to travel to project locations, meetings, and other business-related destinations as needed.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in a temperature-controlled office environment but may occasionally require visits to active construction sites or other outdoor environments. Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
Travel between project locations, offices, supplier facilities, and meetings may be required. Noise levels may range from moderate to loud depending on the work environment.
